Flight Information
Getting to Bangkok (BKK)
Most major international carriers operate flights to Bangkok's new Suvarnabhumi (pronounced “Su-Wana-Poom”) airport. Most U.S. flights will connect through other cities in Asia, but Thai Airways (a member of Star Alliance) has introduced nonstop service from LAX and JFK.
Getting to Koh Samui (USM)
The airport on Koh Samui, which is entirely outdoors, is owned by Bangkok Airways. They operate most or all of the flights to the island. From Bangkok, there are more or less hourly departures to Samui, and the flight is only about an hour. They also fly in from Hong Kong and Singapore, but the schedules are much more limited, possibly only one flight per day. Bangkok Airways Web site » Rob and Danny will be on Bangkok Airways flight PG147 leaving Bangkok at 13:00 and arriving in Samui at 14:05 on Wednesday, August 22nd. Feel free to join us on this flight or just meet us on Samui in time for the welcome party.
Accommodations
We have negotiated group arrangements with the following hotels in Bangkok and on Koh Samui. Details are listed below. Please let us know if you have any questions about accommodations or if you'd like help making shared arrangements. If you plan to arrive earlier or stay later, both hotels will extend our group rates for several days on either side of the dates listed.
If you plan to join us in Thailand, we suggest that you reserve rooms now. We're currently holding blocks at both hotels, but will need to release unbooked rooms as we get closer to the event date.
 BANGKOK:
Royal Orchid Sheraton (website)
Check-in: Sunday, August 19
Check-out: Wednesday, August 22
The Royal Orchid Sheraton is located on a bend in the Chao Phraya River. All rooms offer panoramic river views. We have negotiated a group rate of $120 per night, double occupancy. Breakfast is included.
Terms: The hotel will request a credit card to hold the reservation, but no deposit is required. Reservations may be cancelled until August 1, 2007.
 KOH SAMUI:
Saboey Resort and Villas (website)
Check-in: Wednesday, August 22
Check-out: Saturday, August 25
Saboey, a boutique hotel and resort, is located on Big Buddha Beach, Koh Samui. Accommodations include 14 private villas, 6 suites, and 2 courtyard rooms. We have negotiated room prices ranging from approximately $140 to $160 per night, double occupancy. Breakfast and all taxes are included.
Terms: A 50% deposit will be requested when the reservation is submitted. The deposit is fully refundable for reservations cancelled at least 15 days prior to arrival. Balance is due at check out.
